There has been quite a lot of confusion about these filters. There are two types of filters available, one which has an opening at both ends (DCF-1) and one with an opening at only one end (DCF-2). The filters that we sell come with an easily removable cap. If your original filter has an opening at only one end, leave the cap in place. And if your original filter has an opening at both ends, remove the cap (pops right off). No more guess work which filter you need! These filters are made from synthetic material and are easily washable and reusable! Rinsing the filters under a faucet should be sufficient in most cases, mild household cleaner can be sprayed on, if desired. And, of course, fully dry before using.
